Day Eleven - Language of Power
Ephesians 6:18… “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions …”
Praying in the Spirit is one of the great mysteries of the Gospel. For our devotion today we’ll define ‘praying in the Spirit’, as when we pray in a heavenly language or a language we have not learned. On the day of Pentecost, there was a demonstration of power as the Spirit came and they spoke in tongues and people were amazed. (Acts 2)
The Bible teaches us that when we pray in the Spirit we speak mysteries and our hearts speak directly to God (1 Corinthians 14:2). Also that we are building ourselves up in our faith (Jude verse 20). What a privilege and what a gift this phenomena is to us.
Our text is about the whole armour of God and how each piece speaks of how Jesus has equipped us for victory. The indwelling Spirit is surely the most wonderful gift we have received from our Father in Heaven and we honour Him when we pray in the Spirit and these prayers activate a power that is supernatural.
Father, I thank you for the gift of Pentecost. Remind me to pray in the Spirit and release your power. (Take some time now to pray in the Spirit.)
