Day Three: Abundance!

There is a story in the Bible about a widow who chose a new mindset of faith and was able to receive the new thing heaven had prepared for her. The story begins with her being destitute and unless something new and unexpected happens, her next season was one of despair and then death. Right at this juncture, she hears the Word of the Lord. It offers her an opportunity to SEE things a little differently. In her poverty she  activates her faith and prepares for abundance:

“Elisha said, ‘Go around and ask all your neighbours for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.’ She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. When all the jars were full, she said to her son, ‘Bring me another one.’” (2 Kings 4:3-6)

What a legend this widow was. Can you imagine going to all your neigbours and asking to borrow containers. Once the oil began to flow, she was in the zone. I love that the containers ran out before the oil did. The spirit is willing to flow if we will create spaces for Him in our lives. Abundance is the fruit of a heart that believes that He has more than enough.

{prayer}

Father, help us by Your Spirit to renew our minds so that we can receive all that You have prepared for us. Amen.
